The Willys Jeep was produced between 1941 & 1945 for WWII and it was the genesis for all four wheel drive vehicles today. Interestingly this car was the starting point for the Land Rover Defender, a car produced for over 60 years until Dec 2015. The Jeep was also called a utility vehicle and is certainly true to this intent, there is not a single piece of extra metal on the item that doesn’t need to be there. The boxed version pictured above expands on this ethos even further and shows some extraordinary thinking (possibly staged). As with most military design that excels, it is also worrying that so much inventive thought can be sourced and devoted to war.
